I do have a master pattern block (although my changing weight has had an impact on this, sadly) but I have found making the design changes very difficult. I think I bit off more than I could chew and made things unnecessarily difficult - and tricky to sew. Perhaps a few simpler changes would be more appropriate! I don't have a designer's mind and find I need the inspiration of a pattern to guide me in the right direction.Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09932830885813917282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2330020043629144522.post-48719073822178410682018-09-28T02:21:01.097+01:002018-09-28T02:21:01.097+01:00I never tissue fit. Making a full muslin is the on...I never tissue fit. Making a full muslin is the only way to get a really good fit. Have you considered investing time in creating a master basic block. With a few drafting changes you can use it as a base for any design. It would save time in the long run as you would only do the complicated fitting changes once.Cloning Couturehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14318090784680489874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2330020043629144522.post-81460151838497660672018-09-24T16:43:46.180+01:002018-09-24T16:43:46.180+01:00Thanks. Then if things are too far off, it's to either Swedish tracing paper or old sheets for a muslin. If it's very minor changes, I make adjustments as I cut and sew the garment.JustGailhttp://justgail.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2330020043629144522.post-40984327219251860692018-09-24T08:12:13.114+01:002018-09-24T08:12:13.114+01:00Thanks. The tissue stood up fairly well though started to show issues where I altered - a big problem is the pinning of pieces together to try on - I didn't feel that worked well. Yes, messy, destructive of the original tissue and more time consuming of the 'hard yards' (I like that term!). I really don't feel you can do it on your own, either. No more.Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09932830885813917282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2330020043629144522.post-1493642493656460642018-09-24T08:06:50.154+01:002018-09-24T08:06:50.154+01:00Thanks. It drapes and is sturdy. I would never use original pattern for tissue fitting as the process is both messy and destructive. The key us sorting out length, width, and adjustments that change the shape of the pattern piece (eg FBA). But for most fabrics the tissue fit gives me enough fabric where I need it to fine tune on the fashion fabric.Kareyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12013073315698648712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2330020043629144522.post-38406477892515049072018-09-24T00:05:13.915+01:002018-09-24T00:05:13.915+01:00I refuse to tissue fit.
