  2. Lovely to meet you too Anne. I realised when I got home that the link to my dress in my blog is the short sleeved version, but there is s long sleeved one too. It's long but can be easily shortened, and for tall ladies too. I sewed a 38 at the bodice and a 40 from the waist down, for reference but my fabric has a very slight stretch. http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/gown-122012. This one is quite similar and in tall too. http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/34-sleeve-dress-122015.
Burda have a great "tall" selection. Just select it in the pattern store and don't forget to press "submit"

    1. It was lovely to meet you, too. I've put up a blog post with a link to the dress. Thank you for your tips and the further info here. This dress is firmly on my radar. I'll look at the other too. Glad you got home okay!

    2. I've had a look at the patterns. I think I prefer the look of the second one. Only thing is, they don't go big enough for me. It's my hips that are the biggest issue! Might not be too difficult to fix that, though.

    3. With regard to sizing my waist measures 31 niches and my hips measure 38 inches but I always choose a size 40 as there's lots of ease built in, so you might be ok with standard sizing. I know some people are shy about their measurements but I'm happy to share in the hope that it's helpful. And yes the second pattern is lovely too, but see you already has some delightful ideas already. Look forward to seeing the results.

    4. I am rather larger - 41 bust, 35 waist, 46 hip! Needs to be on the way down but that's where it is at the moment. I think I would have been okay with the size 88 (tall sizing; I'm 5' 11") but these only go up to 86. Anyway I bought one, have printed out and will have a look at it, thanks. As it's for both stretch and non stretch, if I make in stretch (the self coloured embossed fabric I bought in Dewsbury?) that might work. Thanks.

  3. Anne,
As usual, I am envious of your sewing life. Your meet ups, your train rides to meet these delightful, women and all the lovely things that you do.
I think that your hack dress suits you perfectly and you look tall and slim.

    1. Why, thank you, Susan! I didn't think someone living in your sunny climes could ever be envious of anything in the cold north east of England! That was my first meet-up and I enjoyed it very much.
