Something very funny is going on!

Dear readers,  I do hope you can explain what might be happening!

I haven't put up a new post for a while (not enough to say and nothing to show) yet I have a massive increase in page views per day according to blogger stats. Each day over the previous 4 days breaks the previous record. Yet,
I don't see that massive increase reflected in increased views of my most recent posts (I haven't checked all posts).
I have not had an increase in comments.
I have not had an increase in followers to any great extent.
I'm puzzled,  to say the least.

Any ideas?
I'd really appreciate your comments.

TIA
Anne

  1. Anne, that is downright weird. I would report it to Blogger, and be tempted to take my site down.

    1. Thank you, Mary. I've tried to report but no joy as just not sending! Will need to try on my PC later.

  2. HI Anne. If you go to your stats in bloodspot there is a tab for traffic sources. That should tell you where most of the traffic is coming from.

    1. Thank you, Anita. I did reply but further investigation shows my reply wasn't correct. The stats of traffic sources don't seem to match the overall numbers.

  3. I never pay attention to the stats so I could be no help!

  4. I don't check my stats much either, and when I do, the traffic is much as I would expect - my usual not much. If you look at Bloggers traffic page you will see where it is coming from - don't click on any of the links as some of them are not nice people. Also, I wonder if your blog has been hacked into??? Sometimes if you click on one of the visitors who you are curious about, they can hook into the back of your page - or something like that. I stick to only visiting those people that comment on my blog and can be checked as at least on Google as some sort of person.

    1. Thanks, Sarah Liz. That's my fear too. My blog is small, has a small number of followers and I don't post very often. A new post would lead to a modest increase in views. Over the last few days, a huge increase. Checking as advised, largely from Russia. I don't understand. On help forum, someone else had same issue. We haven't received help on this. I'm thinking of taking my blog down but don't want to lose all the work I've put into it so I want to back it up somehow.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. Please leave a comment. I welcome each and every one. I value criticism (constructive of course! ), love hints and tips and would appreciate suggestions for future direction.
